Job Purpose
To supervise and lead the steel fabrication production team engaged in the manufacturing of steel cabins and modular units for oil & gas customers, ensuring adherence to project specifications, MEP integration requirements, quality standards, safety regulations, and delivery schedules in Oman.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Fabrication Operations
- Supervise daily steel fabrication activities for oil & gas steel cabins and modular enclosures.
- Plan and execute production schedules in line with project timelines and customer requirements.
- Ensure fabrication works comply with approved drawings, MEP layouts, and technical specifications.
- Coordinate closely with mechanical and electrical teams to ensure proper MEP integration within cabins.
- Monitor material usage, manpower allocation, and productivity to meet production targets.
MEP Coordination
- Oversee installation and coordination of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) works within fabricated cabins.
- Ensure correct routing, supports, penetrations, and interfaces between steel structures and MEP systems.
- Coordinate with engineering and QA/QC teams for inspections, testing, and commissioning readiness.
Team Leadership & Supervision
- Lead and manage welders, fitters, fabricators, electricians, and helpers.
- Assign work, manage shifts, and ensure discipline and efficiency on the shop floor.
- Conduct daily toolbox talks and ensure clear communication of work priorities.
- Train and mentor team members on fabrication and MEP best practices.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Ensure fabrication and MEP works comply with oil & gas standards and client specifications.
- Support QA/QC activities including inspections, ITPs, NCR closures, and documentation.
- Identify quality issues, recommend corrective actions, and minimize rework.
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
- Enforce strict adherence to HSE policies, permits, and safe work practices.
- Ensure compliance with Oman and oil & gas safety standards.
- Report incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions and implement corrective measures.
Coordination & Reporting
- Liaise with planning, procurement, stores, and logistics for material availability.
- Prepare daily/weekly production and manpower reports.
- Support client inspections, audits, and project handovers.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering (preferred).
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in steel fabrication for oil & gas projects.
- Proven experience in steel fabrication cabins / modular units with MEP integration.
- MEP experience is mandatory in a similar oil & gas fabrication environment.
- GCC experience preferred, with exposure to Oman projects an advantage.
- Strong ability to read and interpret fabrication and MEP drawings.
- Age preference: Below 40 years.
